On the last day of school, your student received two very important learning packs - one for reading at home over the summer; the second for practicing math skills over the summer.
Each packet needs to be returned by the first full week of school - and if your child brings it the first day of class that would be even better!
This year, we will be transitioning to the Common Core curriculum in both English Language Arts (reading, writing, & speaking) and Mathematics. There will be some adjustments to the rigor required of students as we make this transition - in other words, the expectations from third graders entering this fall are much more challenging than they have been in the past.
One way to make sure your student is ready for the challenge of our new curriculum is to ensure that he or she continues to read, write, and practice mathematics over the summer.
If you have any questions about this process, please email me and I will be happy to explain and answer questions.
